Some more views of the junction

The "official" access route to Rounton, Appleton Wiske and Welbury from A19S is along 4 miles of 3m narrow single track lane with no designated passing places, soft verges, blind bends and a 14' height restriction. In winter it is never gritted or snow ploughed and it hasn't been properly maintained for more than a decade. Despite these faults the Highways Agency propose to designate this route for access to the villages. Any problems will be North Yorkshire County Council's responsibility. They found a cunning solution to this. All references to Rounton and Welbury were deleted from the A19 southbound. No designated route means they don't have to repair or girt the local roads we are now forced to drive.
